Dog Training
Dog Training at Sniffly Dogs
When it feels like you should know what to do… but don't
You love your dog. That’s never been the problem.
But somewhere along the way, life with them has started to feel harder than it should.
You find yourself thinking about what you should be doing, what other people might be thinking, and whether you’re getting it wrong. You’re trying to keep your dog safe, hold things together in the moment, and do the right thing, even when you’re not completely sure what that is.
And that is exhausting.
At Sniffly Dogs, we provide personalised 1:1 dog training from The Kennels on Nostell Estate near Wakefield, supporting dogs and their people from across Yorkshire.
When you’re trying to move forward… but don’t know how
You want things to change. Not because your dog needs fixing, but because you want life together to feel easier.
You want to support them with confidence, help them through situations that currently feel hard and enjoy the kind of relationship you imagined when they first became part of your life.
Wanting things to change and knowing how to make that happen, however, are two very different things. Before deciding what to do next, it helps to understand what's really going on.

People come to us for all sorts of reasons
Some people are preparing for life with a puppy and want to get things off to a good start. Others have found that walks have become stressful or unpredictable, or they are living with a dog who struggles around other dogs, people or busy environments.
We also work with dogs who become overwhelmed, get overexcited, lack confidence, or find everyday life harder than people expect. And sometimes, people come because they simply want to understand their dog better and feel more confident in how they support them.
The details are different for every dog and every person, but the starting point is the same: we take time to understand what is happening before deciding what to do next

What we do instead
We slow things down long enough to understand what is actually happening. Not to make things more complicated, but so the next step makes sense for your dog and for you.
Together, we'll begin to notice:
- What your dog is telling you
- What changes when they feel more settled
- What helps, and what doesn’t
- How your dog learns
- Where confidence starts to appear
From there, decisions become easier.
Not because everything is perfect.
Because things become clearer.
Who this is for
This tends to fit people who:
- Care deeply about their dog
- Worry about getting things right
- Feel responsible for how things go
- Know their dog wouldn’t cope in a typical class
- Are open to doing things a bit differently
- Want to learn more about life with their dog
- Are looking for support rather than judgement

What it feels like
Everything we do is delivered through relaxed 1:1 sessions, giving you and your dog the time and space to learn without the pressure of a busy class.
There are no lines of dogs hoping yours copes. No expectation that you should have all the answers. Instead, you'll have time to think, ask questions and try things at a pace that works for both you and your dog.
It's often in those quieter moments that people begin to notice what their dog has been showing them all along. As their understanding grows, many find they feel more confident in the decisions they make and more able to support the dog in front of them.
Why we start with a Natter @ Nostell
Before making plans, giving advice or deciding what comes next, we think it's important to understand your dog, your experiences and what everyday life currently looks like.
That's why we start with a Natter @ Nostell.
It's a relaxed 1:1 conversation where we can get to know you, learn more about your dog and help you make sense of what's happening without pressure or expectation.
People leave with different things. For some, it's a clearer understanding of their dog. For others, it's knowing exactly what they'd like to work on next. And for many, it's simply the relief of feeling understood.
All of those are good places to start.
Starting point
If this feels familiar, you do not need to figure it all out first.
You just need somewhere to begin.
A conversation.
A different perspective.
A little more understanding than you had before.
The rest tends to become much clearer from there.
