Why did you get a dog?

Our guess is because you wanted company, to go out for lovely walks, meet new people, wanted to add a dog to your family or have fun together.

Instead, you have a complete nightmare of a dog where you’re cut off from friends, having to go out at ungodly hours, run ragged at home trying to entertain your dog who seems to have endless energy, unlike you who has neither the time nor the energy and you’re exhausted.

When out on a walk, you see other people with their dogs and think it looks so easy for them. They look like they have a dog that pays attention to them, they don’t looked frazzled, they look like they are having fun. What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?

Hi, we’re Louise and Ruth, experienced Scent Instructors, friends, and dog owners. We love nothing more than doing scent work with our dogs and want to share this with you so that you experience the fun, joy and all-round sense of pride we do when our dogs are sniffing.

We believe that training should be fun, mindful and most importantly, have your relationship with your dog at the centre. We know that every dog and owner are unique and learn differently. The traditional classes are not for everyone or every dog, hence why we teach scent work 1:1.

You won’t find rigid routines or anyone telling you to show them who’s the boss. What you will get is a space for you both to learn, at your pace in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment where we teach you to train your dog to find stuff and have fun together.

Of course, it goes without saying we’re positive reinforcement trainers, so if you want to reprimand or punish your dog for not getting it right, we are not instructors for you.

Sniffly Dogs HQ, amidst the back drop of the beautiful grounds of the Nostell Estate, is set up to meet all your scent training needs. And as your dog progresses, we move training outside, providing some truly unique search areas.

Let’s ditch what you think you know so you can see your dog in a new light.
