Natter @ Nostell
Not sure where to start? Come for a Natter.
Sometimes you know something isn't quite working with your dog, but you're not sure why or what to do next.
Walks might be feeling stressful. Recall isn't where you'd like it to be. Your dog might lack confidence, become overexcited or struggle to settle at home. Or perhaps nothing feels dramatically wrong, you'd just like life together to feel calmer, easier or more connected than it does right now.
Some people come before their dog has even arrived home. They might be getting their first dog, bringing home a puppy, or simply wanting this experience to feel different from previous ones. Rather than waiting until something feels difficult, they'd rather build a good understanding from the beginning.
Natter @ Nostell is a relaxed 1:1 conversation where we take the time to understand your dog, your experiences and what life currently looks like together.
Held at The Kennels on Nostell Estate near Wakefield, it's a chance to talk things through, ask questions and explore what the most helpful next step might be.
It is not a busy class or a pressured assessment. It is simply space to think, talk and begin making sense of what is happening with your dog.

Why We Start Here
Before recommending dog training, scentwork or deciding what comes next, we think it's important to understand the dog in front of us and the person beside them.
Dogs, households and people all bring different experiences into the room. Taking the time to understand that bigger picture helps us work out what will be most useful, rather than jumping straight into solutions.
Often, that conversation is enough to help things feel clearer.

What happens during a Natter?
You might think this session is all about your dog, but it's just as much about helping you understand the dog at the other end of the lead.
There's no pressure on either of you to get things right. We simply let your dog arrive, explore the space and be themselves while we talk.
We'll spend time discussing what everyday life with your dog currently feels like, what's proving difficult, confusing or important to you, and what you'd like life together to feel more like moving forward.
Together, we'll explore:
- What life with your dog currently feels like
- The situations you're finding difficult
- What your dog may be finding challenging
- What you'd like life together to feel more like
- Any questions or concerns you have
As we talk, we'll gently observe your dog, share what we're noticing and help you make sense of what you're seeing too. Quite often, that new understanding changes how people see their dog and the situation they're in.
You don't need to know what you need before you arrive. Working that out together is the whole point of the session.
What happens afterwards?
People leave with different things.
For some, it's a clearer understanding of their dog. For others, it's knowing what they'd like to work on next. And for many, it's simply the relief of feeling understood.
By the end of the session, we'll explain what we think would be the most helpful next step and why. That might be 1:1 dog training, puppy foundations or scentwork. Equally, if we don't think we're the right people to help, we'll always be honest about that.
Whatever the outcome, our aim is that you leave with a clearer understanding of your dog and more confidence in the next step that's right for both of you.

You don't need to have all the answers before you arrive, or even a plan.

Our Different Approach Starts Here
Sometimes the most useful thing is simply having space to
stop, talk, and make sense of what is happening.
